The Project Philosophy of International Baccalaureate and International Marist School of Barcelona

  • The International Baccalaureate is designed to educate young people who are caring, knowledgeable and eager to learn, capable of helping to shape a better and more peaceful world, within a framework of mutual understanding and intercultural respect. In pursuit of this goal, the organisation collaborates with schools, governments and international organisations to create and develop challenging international education programmes and rigorous assessment methods. These programmes encourage students from all over the world to adopt an active attitude of lifelong learning, to be compassionate and to understand that other people, with all their differences, can also be right.

  • International Baccalaureate + International Marist Project
  • IMSB is a world school centre authorised to teach the International Baccalaureate® (IB®) Diploma Programme.
  • With International Baccalaureate we offer new subjects that above all improve a student’s profile with an open and international mindset. The International Baccalaureate is much more than a Secondary Course where English plays an important role: it is a working method that aims to strengthen hard skills (academic and technical), as well as soft skills, such as assertiveness, empathy, communication skills, problem solving, emotional control, etc. In addition to this, we want to go deeper into the building of attitudinal values and social coexistence, something that links very well with the ethos that we have at Marist schools. The International Baccalaureate wants critical thinkers, good communicators, reflective, bold, open-minded, balanced, caring, informed and educated students. The aim of the International Baccalaureate is to contribute to the development of the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills necessary to live, learn and work in an increasingly globalised world.
  • The International Baccalaureate, in short, offers, on the one hand, rigorous and well-founded academic training and, on the other hand, it generates an active learning attitude in a cooperative environment that strengthens the critical spirit and autonomy of the students. The aim is to encourage students to develop their personal criteria and depth of thought, constituting a very solid base for their intellectual, emotional and personal growth. This approach to education is completely in line with IMSB’s aim to carry out an integral and holistic educational project where the protagonist and the centre of attention is the pupil and where the professionals and the school must be the ground where the unique personality of each pupil can grow and be able to show their talents and their full personal potential.
